Srinagar: Awami National Conference (ANC) Vice President Muzaffar Shah on Wednesday accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of creating troubles for the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) candidates. He also slammed the returning officer of a district development council (DDC) constituency in Khanmoh of bias.
He said, "It is a conspiracy and BJP is trying hard to stop PAGD candidates from contesting the elections. The returning officer tried to reject the nomination of our candidate a few hours after accepting it."
"The nomination of our candidate was accepted after scrutiny at 12:15 pm (on Tuesday). He was authorised to open a bank account and an expenditure register was also handed over to him. Then around 5 pm, he was called to the office only to be informed that his form was not accepted," Shah said while addressing a press conference in Srinagar.
"The same officer has earlier written accepted on his form, later prefixed 'not' to accepted and even tried to write 'rejected'," he added.
Shah was accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPMM) president Javaid Mustafa Mir.
