Srinagar: To prevent cyber frauds and to save people from fraudsters, the Srinagar Cyber Police have advised public to follow precautionary measures and instructions to avoid losing their money while intending to purchase any article shown in the OLX portal or Facebook.
Superintendent of Police, Cyber Cell, Tahir Ashraf, told that fraudsters post products online at low prices to attract buyers.
"Such sellers talk formally and sometimes say they are army personnel and ask for Identity card of the buyer to give an impression that they are genuine sellers," he said.
He said the cyber police are trying to educate people where and how to do shopping online.
The advisory issued by the police said: "Verify the product posted in OLX portal physically before transferring any amount to the seller. Do not believe the ID cards sent by these fraudsters on the name of Army personnel, as they are always fake. Do not believe these fraudsters when they make you believe that the amount will be returned once product is delivered."
