Baramulla:A policeman was shot dead by militants in Tangmarg village of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Tuesday evening, officials said. Head Constable Ghulam Mohammed Dar of Wailoo village was shot near his residence.
A police official said that soon after the incident, the victim was rushed to the nearby health facility, where he was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off and searches have been launched to nab the attackers.
"Injured Police Personnel succumbed to his injuries & attained martyrdom. We pay our rich tributes to the martyr & stand by his family at this critical juncture. The area has been cordoned off. Search operation going on," Kashmir Zone Police posted on X.
The attack comes a day after unidentified militants shot dead a non-local labourer in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Monday, and just two days after an inspector of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was also shot at by militants while he was playing cricket close to his home in Srinagar on Sunday. As per the last reports, the police officer's condition was critical.
