India probes 'drone strike' on Jammu airport

Sources said that drones may have been used in the attack on the Jammu airport in which two personnel suffered minor injuries. The facility is controlled by the IAF and serves as a civilian airport.

Jammu:Two low-intensity explosions, within a gap of five minutes, rocked the high-security technical area of Jammu airport in the early hours of Sunday. Sources told ETV Bharat that a team of forensic experts and a bomb disposal squad have been sent to the scene. Drones were used to carry out the attack. Two personnel suffered minor injuries and there was no damage to any aircraft, sources said.

The first blast ripped off the roof of a building at 1:40 am while the second one exploded in an open area. The area was sealed by security forces and a high-level meeting was held at the air force station attended by senior police and air force officials, according to sources. Jammu airport is a civil airport with a runway and the ATC under the control of the IAF.

In a tweet, the Defence Ministry said that Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Vice Air Chief, Air Marshal HS Arora regarding the incident. "Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh spoke to Vice Air Chief, Air Marshal HS Arora regarding today's incident at Air Force Station in Jammu. Air Marshal Vikram Singh is reaching Jammu to take stock of the situation." Sources said that a high-level investigation team of the Indian Air Force will reach Jammu shortly.
