Srinagar: A Pakistani intruder was shot dead by the Indian Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Saturday, officials said. Indian troops have recovered IED and a huge consignment of drugs from the intruder.
Soldiers posted at Mendhar LoC in Pooch detected some movement when the infiltrator was attempting to enter the Indian side by crossing the border this morning. Following which, soldiers launched a search operation in the area, said an army officer. The soldiers opened fire resulting in the death of one of the intruders, he said. Soldiers recovered IED and drugs from him, he added.
Meanwhile, a high alert has been issued on the international border and LoC in Kashmir ahead of the G20 meeting in Srinagar. The army officer said that as a huge consignment of drugs was recovered from the intruder, it is being suspected that he may be involved in drug trafficking. A massive search operation is currently underway in the area, he said.
