Agricultural land has been kept reserved for farmers: Sinha

Talking to media regarding the new land laws, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that the new land laws were introduced in order to encourage industries and there will be no effect on agricultural land. The Lieutenant Governor said that the agricultural land has been reserved for farmers.

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that the new land laws being introduced in the Union Territory will not impact agricultural land.

"It was a decision taken to encourage industries and there will be no effect on agricultural land. I want to say this forcefully and with full responsibility that agricultural land has been kept reserved for farmers; no outsider will come on those lands,” he said while addressing a press conference at Raj Bhawan Srinagar

He further said, "The industrial areas that we have defined, we want that like rest of the country, here too industries come so that Jammu & Kashmir also develops and employment is generated."

Speaking about the Back to Village-3, he said that 10,000 cases have been sanctioned under Back to Village-3, economic package and self-employment package and Rs 100 crore have been disbursed which signifies the J&K government’s commitment towards youth and women empowerment in the Union Territory.

"J&K Bank has played a commendable role in the process so far and will continue to help the youth in setting up their own business ventures through hand-holding and providing sanction reports on time, he said while realising Rs 250 Crores to the bank.

He also assured further disbursement of funds in a time-bound manner.

He claimed that his focus is on four P’s— Peace, Prosperity, Progress and People.

"No more promises, only work. I am glad to see that development and prosperity is in full swing across the UT. We will touch new heights," he asserted.
