'Students-Parent Forum' protest against fee hike in Shimla

A protest was staged by parents in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla against the increase in fee structure in private schools. They protested outside the office of the state education department. Apart from the hike in fees they also complained about other issues related to private schools.

Shimla: Protesting against the recent hike in school fees, parents under the banner of 'Students-Parent Forum' staged a demonstration outside the office of the state education department in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla on Monday.

The parents alleged that the schools in Shimla have hiked fees and demanded the state government to regulate the fee structure in private schools. They also complained about other issues related to private educational institutions in Shimla.

Besides this, they called upon the government to establish a regulatory commission for educational institutions and demanded that 25% of seats should be reserved in private schools, for poor children.

The protesters further reiterated that their demonstration which began on March 10, would continue until their demands are met.
