Shimla:With flash floods wreaking havoc in many parts of Himachal Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the situation in the state due to heavy rains is being closely monitored by the Centre. "The situation in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rains is being closely monitored. Authorities are working with the State Government. All possible support is being extended. I pray for the safety of those in affected areas," PM Modi said in a tweet.
On the other hand, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also called Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to take stock of the situation. In a Tweet, Shah informed that the Home Ministry is continuously monitoring the situation and has also assured all possible help to the state government.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur speaking to the media said that the state government will compensate the affected people. "Deputy Commissioners of all the districts have been alerted and have been asked to provide help at the earliest. The state government will ensure the safety of the tourists. People living near river banks have been asked to vacate their houses and more to safe shelters," the CM said.
With the onset of the monsoon, incessant rains have triggered flash floods and landslides in many parts of the state. To fasten the relief operations, helpline numbers have been shared to help people. In case of emergency, people can contact the control room's toll-free number 1077 or call on 01892 229050. Kangra Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal informed that Disaster Management Act 2005 has been implemented in the district and orders have been issued to all the departments to remain in touch with the district administration. Jindal also announced that tourists visiting Dharamshala have been advised to postpone their tour till July 13 to avoid any inconvenience in the wake of the current situation.
