Shangchool Mahadev Temple: Here Lord Shiva protects eloped couples

It is believed that with the blessings of Shangchool Mahadev, many couples have returned to their homes safely and even today the eloped couples are protected by the lord. This temple is situated in the village of Shanghar in Sainj Valley of Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district.

Kullu:The trend of love marriage has increased among the youth across the country today. Family members of the couple often oppose love marriage. At the same time, there are many incidents where the couple is killed by the family. But in Himachal Pradesh, married couples who get opposition from family get the support of God Shangchool Mahadev.

It is believed that with the blessings of the deity, many loving couples have returned to their homes safely and even today the eloped couples are protected by the lord. This temple is situated in the village of Shanghar in Sainj Valley of Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district.

According to locals, God Mahadev Shangchool gives shelter to the lovers who run away from home. It is said that if the lovers of any caste and community reach the border of Shangchool Mahadev, then nobody can take action against them. The ground of the Shangchool Mahadev Temple is about 128 bighas.

In this village, Only the laws of God Shangchool Mahadev are followed. The police are not allowed to come to this village. God Shangchool Mahadev provides protection to all the lovers.

The workers for God Shangchool Mahadev say that when Pandavas were chased by Kauravas. The Kauravas reached near the boundary but God Shangchool Mahadev did not allow them to cross the boundary. From that time, the people who come to this village get protection from God Shangchool Mahadev.

The lovers are welcomed by Brahmins in the village. The facilities of their food and stay are taken care of by villagers. Police are not allowed to enter this village. Every law in this village is followed very strictly. Nobody can enter this village with liquor, cigarettes and leather. There is no fight among people in this village. The decision of God Shangchool Mahadev is to be followed by everyone. If someone disobeys his decision, he has to face the anger of God Shangchool Maharaj.

There is a road to the temple. But, vehicles cannot cross the ground. There is a strict prohibition to bring vehicles to the ground, spreading dirt in the ground, drinking liquor and police personnel and forest department employees wearing uniform caps are not allowed in this ground.

The temple committee has changed the board which has written information in this regard. They have given a warning regarding rules in both English and Hindi languages. Tourists from Abroad have also been given clear information in this regard.

The history of the Shangarh Ground is associated with the life of the Pandavas.

According to Janshruti, the Pandavas spent some time in Shangarh during the exile. During this time, they prepared the fields by filtering the soil. The speciality of this ground is that there is the only greenery in the field. There is not a single pebble-stone in 128 bigha ground.

Shangarh Panchayat is famous for being in the World Heritage Great Himalayan National Park area. It is said that the employees of the forest department and the police department who guard the forest have to take off their hats and boxes and go through the grounds.

The entry of horses is also prohibited here. If someone's horse enters the personal area of the deity, then the owner has to pay a fine or legal action is taken against the person by the temple committee.

Priests of Shangchool Mahadev temple, Om Prakash and Budh Raj Sharma said that there are some places near God Sangchul Mahadev where only a few of his workers have the right to visit.

Shangarh is famous as a quiet place for tourists from India and abroad. This secluded place has been selected by many researchers for their research. Shangarh village, located at a distance of 58 km from Kullu, is at the end of Sainj Valley. Shangarh has a population of more than one thousand and is also known due to this ground.

During the summer, a large number of tourists come here. Due to which the tourism businessmen also make a profit. Half of the entire land of the deity is given to Brahmins, priests, mujars, bajantri and gur.

At the same time, half of the land is kept for cow fodder. Spread across 128 bighas, the ground is surrounded by dense pine trees. The temple built in woodcut style adds to the beauty of the ground.

According to villagers, there are no stones and shrubs in this ground. The people of Shanghar graze their cows daily in the field, but surprisingly, cow dung is not found anywhere in this field. Excavation of land, dancing and carrying liquor without the permission of the deity is also prohibited.
