Simaur (Himachal Pradesh):Plastic pollution is a menace and everyone in their own capacity are doing things in order to raise awareness. In yet another initiative, residents of the Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh have taken up an initiative against polythene menace in the tourist state as they have made environment-friendly bricks, that are filled with waste plastic bottles.
The sand-filled plastic bricks are being used for building benches at various public places including schools, panchayat, and parks. With this initiative, the state which is a gateway to the Himalayas hopes to battle its piling plastic problem.
To begin with, the district administration has constructed a boundary wall of a park using several plastic bottles that were collected from garbage and filled with sand and mud for solidity.
