Patient died as 108 ambulance was delayed

On Monday, a snakebite victim in Himachal Pradesh died due to improper management and maintenance of emergency services. Improper maintenance of emergency vehicles combined with bad road conditions has made a serious dent to the emergency services in the region.

Chamba: The miserable condition of life-saving 108 ambulances in Himachal Pradesh is not hidden from anyone. The emergency vehicle service, which was run by the state government on Monday, became heavier on the lives of another person.

On Monday, a snakebite victim, Vishal was referred to Chamba for treatment from Dalhousie Hospital. The ambulance carrying the person to Chamba Hospital stopped midway before reaching Banikhet. After waiting for an hour, the victim was transported to Chamba Hospital through the second ambulance. After being examined in the CHC Bathri,the young man was declared dead.

On Sunday night, the whole family stayed in the house of some familiar person. On Monday morning, at around 3.30 Vishal felt severe pain on the finger of his hand. At first, he ignored but when his health started getting worse his wife Kira, immediately informed the family.

Vishal along with his family was transported to civil hospital Dalhousie via emergency vehicle services. Looking at the continuous deteriorating condition of Vishal, doctors referred him to medical college Chamba.

Due to sudden break down of ambulance and delayed arrangement of another one, resulting in the death of the young man.

The young man familiar to the deceased told the media that Vishal informed 108 ambulances at 5 Am in the morning about his bad condition because of snake bite but due to bad and delayed management of emergency services he passed away .

On the other hand, Dr. Bipin Thakur, Senior Medical Officer of Dalhousie Hospital told "After giving primary treatment to the youth, he was referred to Chamba after looking at his serious condition, but ambulance stopped midway. After which we immediately sent another ambulance there, but in the middle of the way, the young man died. The police filed a case in this regard and handed the body to the family after the post-mortem".
