Kinnaur (HP): Situated in the remote and less explored regions of Himachal Pradesh, the 'Kinner Kailash' mountain is home to multi-coloured Shivalinga!
Often confused with Mount Kailash in Tibet, Kinner Kailash is regarded as one of the mythical winter abodes of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Apart from the religious significance associated with the place, one of the most interesting aspect is the colour-changing Shivalinga.
The rock formation, which resembles the form of Shivalinga, spans nearly 45 ft in height and 16 ft wide amidst the snow covered mountains.
It is said that the Shivalinga changes colour frequently, sometimes seven times a day, and can also be witnessed on sunny days.
Kinner Kailash History
According to local folklore, the place was identified as a 'mystic land' by few shepherds, who took refuge at the rock formation whilst grazing their flock.
They had reportedly witnessed a form of 'divine' worship in the early hours at Mount Kailash, accompanied with sounds of drums and conch.
