HRTC is all set to run electric buses in Lahaul-Spiti

The Kullu Depot of the HRTC is the first bus depot in the state which operated electric buses and opening of the Atal tunnel would help these busses to provide services to people of the region.

Manali/Lahaul Spiti: The Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) is all set to run electric buses in Lahaul-Spiti to promote eco-friendly transportation in the region.

The HRTC conducted a trial of the electric buses from Kullu Depot to Keylong in Manali. An official from the Kullu depot has said that the trial of the electric buses was successful.

The Kullu Depot of the HRTC is the first bus depot in the state which operated electric buses and opening of the Atal tunnel would help these busses to provide services to people of the region.

In order to cut costs, the HRTC management wanted to have electric buses and it had purchased a few buses for the same purpose.

Charging facilities for the electric buses are also being set up at key locations. Use of electric buses for transportation will play a vital role in protecting the environment in the region.
