HP man sanitising slums amid COVID-19, asks people to maintain social distance

A man from Himachal Pradesh has taken an initiative of sanitising offices and slum areas to keep people away from the deadly virus. In addition to this, Dr Agar Das has donated his entire salary of March to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister's relief fund to fight COVID-19.

Shimla: People across the country are finding ways to do their bit in the fight against COVID-19, a man from Himachal Pradesh has taken an initiative of sanitising offices and slum areas in the district to keep people away from the virus.

Sending out a message to maintain social distance to the public, a retired section officer with the horticulture department who has identified that sanitisation can help combat the deadly virus has taken efforts of sanitising slum areas.

"When he saw that a lot of people are going to offices regularly, he took the initiative of sanitising the offices which are operational amid lockdown. Initially, he sanitised the Horticulture department to keep people secured and safe. He took the initiative so that everyone who comes in the office is safe from the deadly virus," said Pratap Chauhan, sub-divisional officer, Rohru tehsil.

"He is doing a commendable job and his work is being appreciated by many," Chauhan added.

Dr Das who has taken permission from the panchayat officer to do the same is funding the whole initiative with his own money.

Appealing Dr Das to keep up the good work, Horticulture Development Officer, Kushal Mehta said, "He and his team are voluntarily doing sanitisation work during the ongoing lockdown. Our horticulture department is mostly crowded, which makes it more prone to deadly disease. His initiative is helping people to stay safe at work."

Additionally, Dr Das had donated an entire salary of March to the state Chief Minister's relief fund to fight COVID-19.
