Himachal engineer battles COVID-19, provides free food to frontline workers

Himachal Pradesh:Amid COVID-19 crisis, an engineer from Una is working selflessly to provide breakfast, lunch and snacks to the frontline workers without charging them anything, a source said.

Dinesh Menon, post lockdown order, has engaged himself in the service of cops, sanitation and healthcare workers and his family of 11 members and close friends assist him to provide food to hundreds of COVID-19 heroes every day.

He carries the food items on his moped and delivers it to cops, sanitation workers, medical staffs among many others who have been working relentlessly to keep country safe amid COVID-19 outbreak.

According to Dinesh Menon, his family starts preparing breakfast from five in the morning. The work is equally divided, some of the members make breakfast and some other, tea. Further, he takes full care of the people's taste as he keeps the facility to serve tea with and sans sugar separately.

"Throughout the day, Dinesh Menon covers about 16 kilometers of the Una tehsil and delivers breakfast, lunch and tea to every person found in this area," a cop said.

Menon added that he gets done with his work by 12 at night and returns home till 2.30 only to start preparing for the next day again.

"People performing duty on the roads are stationed for our safety and it's nothing but an opportunity for us to serve them which I don't really want to miss out on. Moreover, this pleasant service gives happiness to my family too. Besides, I would urge all my countrymen to stay indoors and stay safe because that's how we can help each other" said Dinesh Menon.
