Lahaul-Spiti (Himachal Pradesh): In a seemingly strange development, all residents of a village in Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul and Spiti district tested positive for coronavirus, barring one man.

In the district's Thorang village, 42 residents have tested positive for coronavirus. 52-year-old Bhushan Thakur is the only person in the village whose corona report came back negative.

Initially, five people from the village were detected with coronavirus, following which the villagers decided to voluntarily get themselves tested. Four days ago, the villagers gave samples for the corona test, and the report of all the residents except Thakur came back positive.

However, what comes across as really strange is the fact that the other six persons in Thakur's family tested positive for the virus.

Though Thorang village has a population of around 100, due to the recent snowfall, many people have moved to Kullu.

Meanwhile, Bhushan Thakur was surprised to find his own report negative, as he was with his family all the time. He performed most of the daily chores with his family members including having meals with them.

CMO Dr Paljor opined that it may be due to Bhushan's immunity system which was stronger than the rest.

Bhushan, who is currently living in a separate room, away from the family, said that he is taking all COVID-related precautions. He advised people to wear masks, wash hands, and follow social distancing.

According to reports, coronavirus cases are once again on the rise in Lahaul and Spiti district ever since the Himachal government allowed tourists in the state. According to the latest figures, total corona cases in Lahaul and Spiti have crossed 850, out of which 372 are active cases.
