Duo survive landslide in Himachal's Kinnaur, video goes viral

A video made by one of the two landslide survivors in Himachal's Kinnaur gas gone viral on social media platforms. The duo were traveling in the same tempo traveller, in which 9 other people on board had met a tragic end. Multiple landslides had occurred near Batseri on Sangla-Chitkul road on July 25.

Kinnaur (Himachal): A video shot by one of the two survivors showing the aftermath of the landslide that had taken place on July 25 near Batseri on Sangla-Chitkul road has gone viral on social media platforms. Among the 11 deceased, two of the tourists Naveen and Sherrill Oberoi managed to survive the disaster.

Having made it out alive, Naveen using his mobile made a video showing the area piled with rocks and stones and is seen recounting the harrowing experience he had faced. " Our vehicle was passing through when a pile of rocks hit the vehicle causing it to roll down into a gorge. I was sitting on the side close to the driver, and somehow managed to get out of the vehicle. In the process hit my head on a rock and got injured," Naveen is heard saying in the clip. He is also seen pointing the camera towards the second survivor saying, "I am coming there you just stay there and take shelter behind a tree."

The survivors are then heard speaking about contacting the emergency number of police in a bid to seek assistance. After having made repeated calls the duo were able to contact the police. According to the district administration, both the survivors are now safe and post their medical treatment, they have been sent to their respective destinations.

Earlier, a video of bridge collapse in the same location had gone viral on social media. In the video, boulders could be seen rolling downhill, causing the bridge to collapse. A bridge was completely destroyed by rockfall during the landslide. Following the landslide, the district authorities had issued an advisory to locals and tourists asking them to exercise maximum caution and stay away from rocky areas.
