Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh): The cave of Vyas Rishi located in Diara sector of Bilaspur city, where Vyas ji used to perform his penance is still safe today. According to mythological beliefs, sage Vyas meditated in this cave for many years. It is said that Saint Vyas wrote the epic Mahabharata at this place and also wrote the four Vedas here. In ancient times this place was named as Vyaspur after the name of Vyas Rishi, but later it was renamed as Bilaspur.
The foot of the city
Vyas Cave is situated on the banks of the Sutlej River, but the government could not develop this world-famous site. Even today, this site has the same conditions which were many decades ago. No government paid any heed to this site. According to the information, this popular cave is located at the foot of the city.

Actually, the old city of Bilaspur has completely sunk in the Gobind Sagar lake, but the cave is still safe here. This cave is considered a religious place. It is worth mentioning that the Tapobhumi Vyas cave of Maharishi Veda Vyas, the creator of Mahabharata with four Vedas, 18 texts and 36 Upanishads is a historical place. It is believed that this has been a place where many important Vedic events have taken place.
