CM Thakur briefs Modi ahead of Atal Tunnel launch

Through video conferencing, the CM Jairam Thakur informed the PM about the preparations of the government for his visit to Himachal Pradesh on October 3 to inaugurate the Atal Rohtang Tunnel.

Shimla:Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Himachal who will be inaugurating the Atal Rohtang Tunnel, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur on Saturday, briefed him of the preparations.

Through video conferencing, the CM informed the PM about the preparations of the government regarding the proposed visit to Himachal Pradesh.

Besides Thakur, Union Defense Ministry Secretary Ajay Kumar gave a presentation on the characteristics of the Atal Tunnel that is built from a strategic point of view to the state.

Inauguration on October 3

According to the proposed program, the PM is scheduled to reach Manali Helipad at 8:30 am on October 3. He will travel about 25 km by train and reach the South Portal of Atal Tunnel.

After travelling 9.9 km in the tunnel, the Prime Minister will reach the North Portal on the other side, where the bus will be flagged off. This program will be for about 10 minutes, after which the Prime Minister will address a rally of about 200 people in Sissu, 10 km away.

The Prime Minister will then address the public meeting in Solang Nala.

He may also stop for lunch in the meantime from where he will return to Helipad.

CM, Assembly Speaker to welcome PM

To welcome the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vipin Parmar, Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Virendra Kanwar will be present at the location.

In the event of Chopper not landing in Sarchu, arrangements have been made to welcome the PM at three other places.

Prime Minister Modi will address the public meeting in Solang where due to the pandemic, the seating of two hundred people has been arranged.

LED screen will broadcast in district headquarters

The event will be broadcasted live on LED screens at all district headquarters. To reach millions of people, it will be broadcasted on social media and on the government's web portal.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to be present too

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur. Former CM Shanta Kumar and Prem Kumar Dhumal will also be present in the program.

Canceled holidays of all officers and employees

In view of PM's visit, Kullu Deputy Commissioner Dr. Richa Verma has canceled the holidays of the officers and employees of the district.
