COVID-19: More students test positive in Himachal school, tally rises to 83

At least 39 more students of a boarding school in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district have tested positive for Covid-19. On Tuesday, 43 people, including the students and the staff of the Dr Vijay Memorial Senior Secondary Boarding School in Dharampur, were found Covid positive. For the second consecutive day, over 200 new cases were reported across the state.

Mandi (Himachal Pradesh): At least 39 more students of a boarding school in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district have tested positive for Covid-19.

On Tuesday, 43 people including the students and the staff of the Dr Vijay Memorial Senior Secondary Boarding School in Dharampur, were found Covid positive taking the total number of infected persons in the school to 82.

Sarkaghat Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) Rahul Jain, who is also the SDM of Dharampur said, "The entire building of boarding school has been converted into a containment zone. All the students have been isolated, and the health department and district administration are monitoring the situation."

There are currently 130 students in the boarding school from Classes 9-12.

The health condition of the students and staff of the Boarding School started deteriorating from Saturday, after which they were rushed to Civil Hospital Dharampur.

After the diagnosis, 25 of them tested positive for the deadly virus initially. Later, the samples of the other students were also sent for diagnosing, in which 18 more children were found positive of the virus.

On Tuesday, 263 new Covid cases were reported in the state while 162 patients recovered.

Two people died due to the infection in the last 24 hours n the state amid an increase in cases in the state. For the second consecutive day, over 200 new Covid cases were reported across the state.
