Hisar:A resident of Bhagat Singh colony in Punjab's Hisar wrote a post on Facebook describing unavailability of medicines at hospitals in his area and tagged many senior leaders including state health minister Anil Vij and Chief Minister of Haryana.

Paramjeet said that he took her one-month-old niece to a district hospital as she was suffering from stomach ache. When the doctor prescribed the medicine, Paramjeet went to the hospital's pharmacy to buy them. But the pharmacist told that he will have to go to another shop to get the medicine.

Under government health scheme, medicines are available free of cost at government hospitals. Due to the unavailability of medicine at the hospital, Paramjeet had to spend money and buy it from another pharmacy. This enraged him after which he decided to write a letter to the government.

He took out cash from the piggy bank of her niece and sent it to the government as a way to mock them for not investing in public health facilities.

Dr Sanjay Dahiya, a civil surgeon, said that the hospital usually keeps stock of all the medicines. "In Paramjeet's case, maybe the parents of the baby asked the doctor to prescribe a medicine with immediate relief. That medicine might not be available in the hospital at that time which is not a matter to panic," he said.

Dahiya also said that the medicines which were prescribed were cheap and available in other district hospitals of Hisar.

"I will personally talk to the doctor about the matter once he returns on duty," he added.
