New Delhi:Alleging that people of Nuh district of Haryana were being "forcefully converted" a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking protection of the fundamental rights of the Hindu community.
The petition has been jointly filed by lawyers and activists who contended that the Muslim community, in majority in the district, were in a "dominating position." Hindus are being deprived of their right to life, personal liberty, and religious rights, the petition alleged.
"A number of Hindus have been forcibly converted and a number of women and minor girls have been abducted and raped. The Hindu women are not safe at all,' the plea read. It added that a large number of atrocities were being committed in the district against members of the scheduled castes.
