Haryana HC orders not to cut trees for bridge in Panchkula now

In the initial hearing of a petition filed against cutting of trees in Panchakula, the High Court of Haryana has ordered the authorities to refrain from cutting trees until a decision is made. The trees along Panchkula Sector 24-26 to Sector 20-21 were being cut for bridge construction.

Panchkula:A PIL was submitted in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the cutting of trees from Panchkula Sector 20-21 to Sector 24-26 in the wake of bridge construction.

After an initial hearing in the case, a division bench of Chief Justice Ravi Shankar Jha and Justice Arun Patel has ordered the concerned authorities to refrain from cutting trees until a decision is made.

In the petition filed by NGO in Bhiwani supporting education, health and sustainability, it is said that numerous trees are being cut from Sector 20 -21 to Sector 24 to 26 in Panchkula.

Even though suggestions were made to the authorities during a presentation on December 22, 2020, no action has been sought yet, read the petition.

Haryana government replied in this regard that a decision would be soon taken and the department would be directed. The Court has directed not to cut any trees until a decision is made.
