Motorcyclist fined Rs 23,500 for traffic violations in Haryana

Under the newly amended Motor Vehicles Act, a biker has been fined for Rs 23,500 in Sonipat's Gohana. The fine was issued because the biker did not have any documents.

Sonipat:A motorbiker on Thursday was slapped a fine of Rs 23,500 in Gohana area of Sonipat for violating traffic rules under the newly amended Motor Vehicles Act. The bike has been impounded by the police.

Biker fined for Rs 23,500 for not carrying bike's documents

The biker bought the old bike few days ago for Rs 5,000. He was fined for not carrying any documents related to the bike.

According to Gohana Traffic Police in-charge Jai Bhagwan, "The bike driver was stopped on suspicion of having a stolen bike while checking at Fawara Chowk. We did not find any documents with him."

He said that under the new Motor Vehicle Act, the bike has been seized and fine has been imposed on the biker.

Parliament in July had passed the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019, which seeks to tighten road traffic regulations such as the issuance of driving licence and imposed stricter penalties for traffic-related violations. The Act came into effect on September 1.
