Man sells his phone to feed his family, then commits suicide

Man committed suicide in Gurugram after selling his phone to buy ration for the family. Mukesh was unable to feed his family due to nationwide lockdown amid coronavirus pandemic.

Gurugram:A 32-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Harayana after he was unable to feed his family due to nationwide lockdown amid coronavirus pandemic.

A painter by profession, Mukesh was not able to take care of the family after the lockdown was enforced in the country.

Two days back, Mukesh went to the market to sell his phone to bring ration for his family. He sold his Rs 12,000 phone in just a Rs 2,500 and bought essential food, ration and a fan for his family.

Locals said that the there was no food left at home and he even borrowed money from his friends so that nobody sleeps empty stomach.

Mukesh, a resident of Bihar was living with wife and four kids from 10 years in a Kaccha house in Saraswati Kunj.

Though the government claims that ration and food is being supplied to everyone amid lockdown but locals said: "The food given is not sufficient enough for us. There is no milk for the kids. There are barely any food left for eating in night."

The Sector 53 police has given the body the family after the postmortem.
