Chandigarh: Phone calls from foreign numbers are not a big deal; many multinational companies have call centers abroad, who often keep calling customers to get their feedback.

But there is always this fear in our mind that if we receive an international call then there is a risk of our phone being hacked due to this call or message; we fear that we may get caught in any big trouble.

How is an account hacked on a phone or social media? Can any call or message from a foreign number cause harm to you? How can one protect oneself from the eyes of hackers?

Cyber expert Rajesh Rana interacted with ETV Bharat Haryana and gave answers to all these questions.

Rana said that whether you are from abroad or from within the country, no information about your phone is leaked when you receive a call or message from anywhere. These are just rumors. Your information reaches the other person only when you share it yourself. If anyone is calling you, you can feel free to pick up their call.

If you feel that the person who is calling you is not an acquaintance or is not known to you in any way and he is asking for your information, then make sure you do not reply to such queries, he said.

You should immediately disconnect the phone. But it is not possible that your data or phone will be hacked immediately when the hackers call or send a message to you. Similarly, if a message comes to you from a suspicious number, do not send a reply to such a message. By doing these things you will always be safe, he added.
