Chandigarh: As the digital era has pushed everyone to engage in online activities, frauds and crime committed in the arena has also steeply increased. Lack of proper law to curb cybercrimes triggers its occurrence. Reportedly, global cyber crimes are increasing in Haryana.
Criminals hack in this manner
It was found out during ETV Bharat's interaction with DCP Panchkula, Mohit Handa that earlier cybercriminals used to hack into a company's system or account and withdraw money from it, on contrary now the hackers are also eyeing people's personal laptops and computers. Criminal cases related to global cybercrime are constantly changing in nature, said Handa.
The way in which crimes are committed has also changed. Many cases are reported in which a hacker creates a fake profile of a person and sends objectionable messages from the account. Then they blackmail the victims and grab money from them.
More cases of mobile application
Currently, e-frauds are also coming into fore, such as stealing money from mobile applications like Paytm, Phone-Pe. According to DCP Panchkula Mohit Handa, the most accurate and effective way to prevent any kind of cybercrime is increasing awareness and alertness among consumers. In the absence of information, consumers become victims of hackers. Apart from this, hackers are also using computer viruses to hack computers.
