Haryana: Holstein Friesians cow breed yields record breaking 76.61 kilograms of milk in 24 hours

A crossbreed cow of Holstein Friesians Species owned by Baldev Singh of Karnal district in Haryana has produced a record-breaking 76.61 kilograms of milk in 24 hours. The cow has also been awarded at 10th PDFA, International Dairy Expo, organised in Ludhiana and at the Agricultural Expo, back in 2015.

Karnal(Haryana): A crossbreed cow of Holstein Friesians Species has set a new record by producing 76.61 kilograms of milk in 24 hours. The cow is owned by Baldev Singh, who practices animal husbandry in Galib Khedi village of Karnal district. Baldev Singh was also awarded a certificate by the National Dairy Research Institute, country's premier national dairy research institute.

Amandeep, brother of Baldev Singh said that the cow was born through artificial insemination process sourced by ABS global of the United States, which is the world's leading provider of bovine genetics, reproduction services, technologies and udder care services.

In her first lactation, the cow produced 42 kilograms of milk, a figure that went to 54 kilograms in her second and 62 kilograms in her third lactation. In her fourth lactation, she produced the record quantity of 76.61 Kilogram of milk.

He further informed that during the National Livestock Championship and in the Agri expo-2020, (in Batala Punjab) the cow produced milk of quantities as high as up to 64.20 kilograms.

The cow has also been awarded at 10th PDFA, International Dairy Expo, organised in Ludhiana and at the Agricultural Expo, back in 2015.

Baldev Singh’s father Pritam Singh said that the cow has produced 76.61 kilograms of milk at the National Dairy Research Institute Karnal and NDRI felicitated for the same.

Baldev Singh's brother Amandeep said that he and his brother Baldev Singh underwent training in managing dairy animals in the year 2010 and 2011 from the National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal. There they learnt about scientific breeding and animal management. He also said that apart from this he is also associated with the Progressive Dairy Farmers Association of Punjab, from where he is learning the qualities of animal husbandry.

Amandeep urged dairy farmers and rural youth to take part in the Udyamita and Kaushal Vikas Karyakram (human and skill development programme) under the PMKVY and said that the National Dairy Research Institute Karnal, regularly organizes camps for farmers and youngsters.
