Accused in woman weightlifter murder arrested

Divya was a resident of Bhopal and met Bhagat Singh during a weightlifting championship. During the course, the closeness between the two increased, Divya was pressurizing the coach to marry her but Bhagat Singh refused as he was already married.

Rohtak (Haryana): In a big development, Haryana police have arrested Bhagat Singh, the weightlifting coach in connection with the murder of Divya, a weightlifter.

The accused had slit her throat with a knife and later threw her in a canal.

The woman used to practice weightlifting and had accused Bhagat Singh of sexual exploitation a couple of years ago.

Divya was a resident of Bhopal and met Bhagat Singh during a weightlifting championship. During the course, the closeness between the two increased, Divya was pressurizing the coach to marry her but Bhagat Singh refused as he was already married.

After which in 2018, Divya filed a rape case against Bhagat Singh, in which case the accused coach was currently on bail and used to go to the Bhopal court for the hearing.

A case was registered with Haryana police on her complaint following which the coach would threaten her.

On 16th February, a minor fight broke out between Divya and Bhagat Singh in the Bhopal court.

Bhagat Singh left for Delhi and Divya also followed Bhagat Singh.

According to the police, the two came fighting all the way.

DSP Sajjan Kumar also said that Bhagat Singh had to go to Bhopal for the hearing of the case and from where Divya also came with him. It is also being told that Divya was with the accused all the way.

On February 18, Divya was found dead along a canal near Dhamar village in Rohtak.

She was identified with the help of a parking-lot receipt of Bhopal railway station where she had parked her vehicle.

Bhagat Singh will be produced in the court tomorrow.
