The United States President Donald Trump is all set to embark on his first India visit when his Air Force One lands in Ahmedabad on February 24. On Monday, a Hercules plane which is used to transport the presidential vehicles has landed at the Ahmedabad Airport.

Ahmedabad:US President Trump is scheduled to visit Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state Gujarat on February 24.

He will visit the famous Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad and take part in a roadshow with PM Modi.

After that, the two leaders will inaugurate a new cricket stadium in Motera and address a gathering there, with an expected audience of over a lakh people.

Before Trump's visit, six cargo aircraft will include the Globe Master and Hercules cargo aircraft, which usually accompany the president on his foreign trips will land.

Recently, on Monday, a Hercules plane which is used to transport the presidential vehicles has landed at Ahmedabad Airport.

It has cars with the number plate 'US Government for official use only', inscribed on it.

Four cargo aircraft are expected to arrive in advance, whereas two will arrive on February 24.

Ahead of Trump visit, a US military aircraft has already landed in Ahmedabad as part of the security operation involved with United States president's visit.

According to sources, 18 officers of the American Secret Service visited the Motera Stadium on Sunday for inspecting the stadium.

American security agencies have been deployed to oversee the security of the President.

Over 10,000 police personnel will be deployed as part of the security arrangements during US President Donald Trump’s visit who will be visiting the city on February 24.

“Over 10,000 police personnel including 25 IPS officers, 65 ACPs, 200 police inspectors and 800 sub-inspectors will be deployed during US President Donald Trump, his wife Melania Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ahmedabad on February 24,” Ahmedabad DCP Vijay Patel said on Saturday.

DCP Patil also informed that the state police is coordinating with US Secret Service to oversee the arrangements.

Accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump, the US President is slated to visit India on February 24 and 25 at the invitation of PM Modi.

A day after the announcement, Modi tweeted that India will accord a memorable welcome to the “esteemed guests” and the visit would go a long way in further cementing India-US friendship.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Trump is expected to attend an event at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad on the lines of the ‘Howdy Modi!’ function that was addressed by Trump and Modi in Houston in September last year. (with agency inputs)
