Tech-savvy car thief held in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad crime branch held a car thief, Satyendra Singh, resident of Jaipur, with a stolen Scorpio worth Rs 15 lakhs. According to the crime branch, he had a network in four states and scans the key cars when they come to the service centre.

Ahmedabad:The Ahmedabad crime branch arrested a techno-savvy thief named Satyendra Singh from Jaipur who used to steal high-end cars and seized goods worth Rs 17 lakhs.

Crime branch PI J. N. Chavada, PSI S. P. Gohil and A. P. Jeblia and team have on tip-off kept a watch in Prahalad Nagar Garden area on last Thursday. As Satyendra Singh came to the area with a stolen Scorpio worth Rs 15 lakh, he was stopped and arrested, they informed.

According to the crime branch, he had a network in four states to steal cars and used to scan the key in the scanner when a car comes to the service centre.

Later on, he would make a duplicate key from the scanned image and keep track of the GPS system of the car, when it left the service centre. Then, he would find out the location of the car through GPS and steal it with a duplicate key.

Police recovered an electronic machine for making keys worth Rs. 2 lakh, 5 GPS worth Rs. 20,000, Power supply worth Rs. 4,000, 2 Wi-Fi Dongle, 3 Mobile phones and five keys, a total of Rs. 17,37,900 worth goods from him.

Jitendra confessed of stealing the six Scorpio cars from Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Rajasthan, Bengaluru and Gaziabad, Chennai.

He also confessed of stealing Fortuner from Jamnagar and Diu and Kia Seltos from Vadodara and 12 other cars from the state.

After stealing the car he would park it somewhere else and keep it there for about 20 to 25 hours. And later, he would book a driver using online apps and ask him to pick up the car from there and move it to somewhere else.

Satyendra was also caught in 2014 for stealing cars and had been put in jail under PASA. He was also caught in Delhi in 2017 for stealing cars.
