SC slams misleading affidavit on Rajkot hospital fire

The Supreme Court said that six people died in the incident and yet according to the state everything is okay, which is contrary to the report submitted by the committee looking into the matter.

New Delhi:The Supreme Court today slammed the Gujrat government once again for its misleading affidavit filed in the court in response to Rajkot fire incident.

The bench comprising of Justice Ashok Bhushan, Justice R Subhash Reddy and Justice MR Shah were hearing a case pertaining to the proper treatment of covid 19 patients and dignified handling of dead bodies. In the last hearing the court had taken a suo moto cognizance of a fire incident happened in a hospital of Rajkot and had pulled up the state for such repeated incidents and no action.

Today the top court lashed out at Gujrat for submitting an affidavit claiming that everything was okay. "We have seen your counter. According to you, everything is rosy," said Justice MR Shah.

The Court said that 6 people died on the 7th floor and yet according to the state everything is okay which is contrary to the report submitted by the committee looking into the matter.

Today it directed the Solicitor General of India, Tushar Mehta, to ensure that a better affidavit is filed the next time and adjourned the hearing for the day after tomorrow i.e. 3rd December.
