Namaste Trump: Ahmedabad prepares for a gala welcome to US President Trump

Preparations are in full swing for welcoming the US President Donald Trump to Ahmedabad on February 24. Trump along with First Lady Melania will travel to India from February 24 to 25.

Ahmedabad: Ahead of US President Donald Trump's visit to India on February 24, preparations are underway in Ahmedabad for welcoming the US president Donald Trump.

22-Km long road show planned

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has planned a 22-km-long roadshow, the longest in the history of the city.

To make this road show a grand success, the Municipal Corporation convened a meeting of 300 representatives of all religions and institutions who have decided to mobilise people for this mega event. The participants will be in a colourful traditional attire of their respective communities.

People from different states are also expected to come to the city to participate in this remarkable road show which is planned to be taken out from Indira bridge to the newly built world’s largest stadium at Motera.

Over 50,000 people are expected to take part in the roadshow. There are going to be as many as 28 specially erected stages along the 22-km route on which artistes from 28 states will be performing their traditional folk dance and music attired in their traditional costumes.

President Trump and PM Modi will inaugurate the stadium

Those participating in the road show will be carrying the national flags of both USA and India while Prime Minister Narendra Modi will greet President Donald Trump waving India’s tricolour on the latter’s arrival at the Ahmedabad airport.

Trump will visit Gandhi Ashram and the Motera stadium

The main theme of the road show is India’s culture and traditional folk dance in which various forms of dance will be showcased.

Rs 4 crore green space for the Modi-Trump road show

Over one lakh saplings of trees are being planted along the route of the road show. Thus, a green space is being created along the 30-km route from airport to Gandhi Ashram to Motera stadium.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will plant over 1 lakh different species of trees along the 22-km long road show at an expected cost of Rs 4 crore.

Officers and staff of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation are working on cleaning the road and repairing the drainage system to ensure there is no dust or stone along the route.

Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani visited Motera stadium

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani visited Motera stadium today to take stock of the preparations being made and received briefing from officials or agencies engaged for organising the event. Rupani reviewed arrangements and instructed the necessary changes.

"All the arrangements regarding safety and security, parking, seating arrangements, food and water, the entry and exit Gates have been micro planned and everything is in order, "said Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani.
