Surat:The deadly coronavirus pandemic has revealed the grit of doctors who lead the battle against Covid-19 risking their own lives to save the lives of others. On National Doctor's Day, ETV Bharat spoke to Dr Nisha Chandra, Chief Medical Officer at the New Civil Hospital in Surat.
Dr Chandra has performed 6,900 post-mortems so far and she has been serving in the hospital since 2004. Chandra is known for her compassion, which patients rely upon.

She said she had conducted post-mortems of over 100 Covid positive patients. At times, my kids complain of bad odour even after cleaning myself and taking necessary precautions. But this is our duty and I have been doing this continuously since 2004, she said.
As a medical student, she had to study a lot and do many practicals. So performing a post-mortem is not a big deal, Dr Chandra said. During the initial period, decomposed corpses seemed a little strange. But, not anymore, she said.
