HC awards death penalty to Surat rape-murder convict
Gandhinagar:The Gujarat High Court on Friday awarded death penalty to the convict in Surat rape and murder of a three-year-old girl.
The convict Anil Yadav was arrested from Buxar district in Bihar for the rape and murder of the three-year-old girl in 2018.
The victim went missing from her house in Godadara locality of Surat and her body was recovered from a locked building in the area on October 16, 2018.
Yadav lived on the ground floor of the building where the girl's family, from Maharashtra, lived on the first floor.
The accused had confessed to the crime, and had also admitted that he had consumed liquor on that day when he raped and killed the minor girl, police had said.
