Gandhinagar: In order to break the chain of Covid-19, the pandemic which has spread terror in the whole country, including in Gujarat, it is important to vaccinate everyone. The central government has directed all the states to carry out the vaccination of people above 18 years of age from May 1. Accordingly, Gujarat has placed an order for 1.50 crore doses of the vaccine. A telephone interview of top officers of the state’s health department by ETV Bharat revealed that discussion was still on about the order for 1.50 crore doses of the vaccine with companies.
According to information gathered from top officials of the state’s health department, the state government has already placed an order for 1.50 crore doses of vaccine for persons above the age of 18 years. Talks are on between the government and the manufacturing companies on when and what quantity of vaccine doses are to be delivered.

State chief minister Vijay Rupani had earlier announced that the youth will be vaccinated free of charge and the state will bear all its cost. However, there has been no provision in the state budget for the vaccines. It is yet to be known under which provision the state government will pay the pharma companies.
At present, the process of vaccinating people above the age of 45 years is on in the state. According to information gathered from the health department, the vaccination of youth above the age of 18, to begin on May 1, will be done in the same centres from where it is being done for people above 45 years. There will be no increase in the number of vaccination centres in the initial phase but it will be increased in a phased manner.

In a press release issued on April 27, the state’s health department said that today 66,624 people received the first dose and 87,098 the second dose of vaccine. In the entire state, 1,16,22,606 people have been vaccinated till now. No serious side effect of vaccination has been reported so far. The recovery rate from Covid-19 was recorded at 74.37 per cent. In all, a total of 3,90,229 corona patients have recovered from the infection.
Today many people above the age of 18 years began to register for vaccination on COWIN App. The registration began at 4 in the evening. Initially, for about half an hour, some difficulty was faced in registering due to a server crash. Many representatives of ETV Bharat too have successfully registered for vaccination.
