Kutch:Border Security Force (BSF) has issued a high alert on the Kutch border areas in Gujarat ahead of Independence Day to be celebrated on August 15. Security has been beefed up and heavy forces are being deployed in the wake of possible terror attacks and infiltration attempts from the Kutch border areas adjoining Pakistan. According to an official statement, minimum staff will be present at the headquarters and all battalions are being deployed to the border.

Security has been heightened at the Kutch Border, which is considered a very important and sensitive area for the security of the country. In the past too, there have been incidents of infiltration of terrorists from the sea and land borders of Kutch," the statement read.

The attempts of the smuggling of drugs and arms at the Kutch border has been foiled multiple times by the BSF as the security of the nation cannot be compromised in any condition, the statement added. Notably, the Border Security Force, Kutch BSF, Coast Guard and Marine Police keep a close vigil on the land border and coastal areas of Kutch.

Gujarat BSF's Frontier IG GS Malik said that security has been tightened at the Kutch border by deploying more security personnel at the border till August 15. More vigilance and surveillance at the Gujarat borders will be the priority of the BSF till Independence Day, he added.
