Gandhinagar: The chief minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani has said there will be no expansion of the Cabinet in the state. The clarification comes after Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the state on Monday sparking speculation of a possible cabinet expansion. Shah is on a two-day visit to the state and he will visit three Covid-19 vaccination centres.
A meeting of BJP MLAs led by the party's in-charge Bhupender Yadav on June 15 started fueling speculations about the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle ahead of Assembly elections in 2022. Yadav had made two visits to the state in quick succession for feedbacks after allegations that the state government mishandled its response to the Covid-19 outbreak.
State Home Minister Pradipsinh Jadeja also clarified that the matter of cabinet expansion was not discussed at the meeting.
