Guj: Video shows BJP worker 'taking bribe' from builder

The Bharatiya Janata Party suspended a party worker in the state over a video of him taking a bribe from a builder went viral on social media. The party worker was seen demanding and accepting money from the other man in the video. After the matter came to light, city party chief Jagdish Panchal suspended Vyas from the party.

Ahmedabad: The ruling BJP in Gujarat on Friday suspended a local party worker after a video purportedly showing him accepting a bribe from a builder went viral on social media.

Pulkit Vyas, elected from Isanpur ward, can be seen demanding and accepting Rs 10,000 from a person who identifies himself as a builder in the video.

After the video went viral, city BJP chief Jagdish Panchal suspended Vyas from the party, the party said in a release.

In the video, Vyas is heard telling the builder not to worry as he 'will take care of officials' of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) which is controlled by the BJP.

Vyas purportedly also promised to use his influence and make the AMC issue a notification to stop all kinds of demolitions for three months if the builder paid Rs 5,000 more.
