COVID-19: Gujarat philanthropist distributes wheat worth Rs 1 crore among poor

As the coronavirus continues to spread across the country, Vastabhai Keshwala, a philanthropist from Gujarat, has donated wheat among poor worth Rs 1 crore. He has donated it among the poor of Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh and Devbhoomi Dwarka districts of Saurashtra region.

Jamnagar(Gujarat):The ongoing lockdown, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, has affected the lives of some of the most vulnerable communities across the country, such as migrant labourers, waste pickers, artisans etc.

It is to cushion the impact of the crisis on these sections, and to ensure their access to essentials, that people are coming forward and donating whatever they can.

Vastabhai Keshwala, a philanthropist from Gujarat, is one such person who has been donating wheat among destitutes ever since lockdown came into force.

He has donated wheat worth Rs 1 crore, till now, among the poor of Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh and Devbhoomi Dwarka districts of Saurashtra region.

As per sources, he has taken a vow to continue donating wheat for fifteen days even after the lockdown gets over.

It is to be noted that Keshwala has also been running Samarpan Hospital in Jamnagar since last 27 years.
