Coronavirus Lockdown: Woman constable carries 14 month old to duty

Since the lockdown began, police officials across the country are working day and night to maintain law and order and ensure that social distancing norms are being followed by people.

Alkaben Desai is reporting on duty during the lockdown even though it is a health risk for her and her baby to be out on streets. "I am not doing anything extraordinary, just performing my duty, she said."

"My husband is also on duty and there is no one at home to take care of the child, therefore I have to take my child with me," Alkaben added.

Inspector-General of Police Subhash Trivedi noticed her while patrolling in Bhuj and directed the officials to assign a more convenient duty to Alkaben.

"The woman constable's duty is in a public place, it can be a risk to her daughter's health also. I have instructed the authorities to make her report for duty in police station on humanitarian grounds," IGP Trivedi said while speaking to ETV Bharat.
