Junagadh (Gujarat):The lion exchange program is moving forward once again. The Central government has resolved to send around 40 lions from Junagadh Sakkarbagh zoo to other zoos in the country after the government approved the lion exchange program. For the last one year or so, the process of sending lions from the Sakkarabag Zoo to other zoos in the country has been halted due to Covid-19 guidelines.

With the approval of the Central government, once again the lion exchange program from the Junagadh Sakkarbagh zoo is moving forward. Under the program, lions and lionesses will be sent to zoos in four other states, including Delhi. In return, the Kevadia Colony zoo will get other animals under the animal exchange program. One lion and two lionesses will be sent to Delhi Zoo from Junagadh Sakkarbagh zoo. In return, two hippopotamus and five other species of deer will be sent to Kevadia Colony.
