Worse, Delhi-NCR's real time AQI reaches 1000

Delhi's pollution has turned severe as the real time Air Quality Index (AQI) has spiked as high as 1000 on Sunday morning.

New Delhi:A week after Diwali, Delhi's pollution level still continue to be in the 'severe' category, with the real-time AQI spiked as high as 1000 on Sunday morning.

Government and private schools will remain closed till November 5 as the AQI has risen.

"Total 32 flights have been diverted from Delhi airport on Sunday morning due to bad weather," airport officials said.

An Air India spokesperson said, "Due to bad weather, flight operations affected since morning 9 am in T3 airport (Delhi). Twelve flights are diverted to Jaipur, Amritsar and Lucknow."

When asked if it can be said that "bad weather" is actually the pollution, the spokesperson replied in affirmative.

The odd-even scheme will also continue as it has been scheduled.

Use of N95 breathing masks

Dr Sudhir has suggested continuing using air masks as much as possible. He also said that these masks can help reduce the effects of polluted air as much as 95%.

Stubble burning

The government had earlier released statistics on the contribution of other states such as Haryana and Punjab for the Delhi's deteriorating air quality.

The state government has raised an alert on stubble burning by the farmers, who have also been fined.

Actions are being taken against farmers.
