New Delhi: The Delhi state unit of the BJP has run into trouble after a woman made serious allegations of sexual misconduct against a party leader, using the 'Meri Dilli, Mera Sujhaav' platform.

The BJP had on January 3 launched its 'Meri Dilli, Mera Sujhav' campaign to take suggestions from people to draft its manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections in the national capital.

Using the platform at the party office, a woman accused a leader from the BJP's West Delhi unit, of committing sexual misconduct against her 22-year-old daughter. Even as other party workers rushed to the stage to get the woman to stop, she continued her attack on other senior Delhi BJP leaders, accusing them of turning a blind eye to her complaints.

The woman claimed that BJP Vice-President Shyam Jaju, who is also the in-charge of the party's Delhi unit, and Delhi state general secretary Siddharthan were completely aware of the crime, but were not initiating any action against their fellow party-man.

The woman then went on to threaten that she would commit self-immolation along with her daughter if the accused leader is not expelled from the party and is given any responsibility for the upcoming state Assembly polls.

She also alleged that though a complaint had been filed with the police, the cops are yet to launch an investigation.

Pertinently, Union Minister Smriti Irani along with Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, election co-incharge and Union Minister Nityanand Rai, and election committee convener Tarun Chugh, had launched the campaign at the Delhi BJP office on January 3.
