New Delhi: As the killing of a pregnant elephant in Kerala's Palakkad has seen an outrage across the country, the Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar assured that the Central Government will leave "no stone unturned" to punish the culprits.
"Killing of an elephant in Kerala is shocking. It was a very cruel incident. This is not our Indian culture. Therefore we have taken it very seriously. But this kind of killings are totally unacceptable and we've already deputed our senior officers there. We'll nab the culprits and punish them," said the Minister in a video.
He also informed that the Ministry has also taken up Fodder and water augmentation in forest areas for solving the issue of human-animal conflict in the area.
The incident took place on May 27th, when the pregnant elephant died standing in river Velliyar, after it consumed a pineapple laden with firecrackers which suffered an injury in her lower jaw.
