Rohit Tiwari's death case: Wife confesses to murder
Apoorva Shukla Tiwari has been arrested for murdering her husband Rohit Shekhar Tiwari. After three days of investigation, Apoorva confessed to killing her husband and said their marriage was turbulent. Ujjwala Sharma, Rohit's mother, said Apoorva had an eye on his property.
"Apoorva confessed that she has murdered her husband and said their marriage was unhappy. She said her hopes and dreams were all dashed. She smothered Rohit to death... He was in an inebriated state and not in a position to resist," said senior police officer Rajiv Ranjan.
The officer's remarks came hours after the police arrested Apoorva Tiwari from her south Delhi flat.
"She entered Rohit's room on April 16 and executed the crime. She later destroyed the evidence. All this happened within one-and-half hours," said the officer, adding she initially tried to mislead the Crime Branch team.
On April 15, Rohit, 40, his mother Ujjwala and a relative had gone to vote for the Lok Sabha election. The next day, Rohit was found unconscious in their South Delhi home and was later declared dead. He was earlier believed to have died of a cardiac arrest.
Ujjwala Sharma mother of Shekhar said, "Apoorva had an affair with someone before getting married to Shekhar. Her family is money-minded and has always had an eye on our property. They wanted to grab the Defence Colony property from my sons Shekhar and Sidharth."
When ETV India interacted with Rohit Shekhar's mother Ujjwala Sharma, she said that crime branch had enough evidence against Apoorva and she confessed that she had murdered her son. "She must be severely punished for her crime," she added.
