New Delhi:A four-member Trinamool Congress (TMC) delegation is scheduled to visit the campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Monday, to express solidarity with the students after they were attacked by masked individuals the previous night.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, also the party chief, had condemned the "brutality" unleashed against students and teachers at the university.
"We strongly condemn brutality unleashed against students/teachers in JNU. No words are enough to describe such heinous acts. Shame on our democracy," Banerjee had tweeted.
Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan took to Facebook to condemn the brutal attack and wrote, "Those who have attacked the teachers and students inside the JNU campus in Nazi-style are out to create a dangerous environment and riots in the country."
Vijayan said the attack on students is an "appalling display of intolerance running amok" and asked the Sangh Parivar forces to end its "diabolical plan" to silence the universities with bloodshed.
