Delhi sees 37% decline in vehicle registrations as economic slowdown continues

The economic slowdown is wreaking havoc on the automobile industry in the country. Overall vehicle registration fell by 37 per cent in the month of August in New Delhi. As many as 37,942 vehicles were registered in July which fell down to 24,714 vehicles in August.

New Delhi:Vehicle registration during August 2020 fell by 37% in the national capital with the Indian economy continue to battle with COVID-19.

As per data released by the apex body of the automobile retail industry in India, as many as 37,942 vehicles were registered in July which fell down to 24,714 vehicles in August.

The data shows that a total of 1,856 vehicles, including two-wheelers and four-wheelers, were registered during the lockdown in April.

After this, there was an increase in the registration of vehicles. 8,861 vehicles were registered in May, 31,887 in June and 37,942 vehicles in July at different regional transport offices.

The government received a substantial amount of revenue from this. But on the contrary, there has been a decrease of 37 per cent in August compared to July.

In the month of August, 24,714 vehicles were registered in different regional offices. Last year, only in August, as many as 49,103 vehicles were registered.

According to the statistics of the Transport Department, like all times, registration of bikes and scooters has gone high. This year, 76,105 bikes and scooters have been registered from April 1 to August 30.
