New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed the use of artificial intelligence for creating 'deepfake' as 'problematic' and called upon the media to educate the people about it. While addressing the media at BJP's Diwali Milan programme at the BJP party national headquarters here on Friday, the Prime Minister cautioned the public about the new emerging crisis which is AI-manipulated deep fake videos.
"Use of artificial intelligence for creating 'deepfake' is problematic, and I urge the media to educate people", said PM Modi in his message. PM's remarks to this effect came in the wake of recent deepfake videos of Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol and Katrina Kaif which sparked country-wide outrage including sharp reactions from movie stalwarts like Amitabh Bachhan. Many demanded swift action by cyber police to ensure people's security from deep fakes.
On the other hand, the most revered festival in North India, Chhath Puja commenced today. Talking about it, the PM said that the four-day long festival has become 'rashtriya parva' (national level festival) and it has become a matter of great happiness. Along with PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda have also arrived at the venue of Diwali Milan event that has been organised by the ruling party.
