No previous government had even thought of increasing the procurement price of sugarcane till date. He added that the sugarcane farmers for the first time will get procurement prices. The BJP Rajya Sabha MP further said that the farmers suffered a lot under the previous government. Several sugar mills were closed down in the previous years. Today all the farmers are in profits. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stopped the imports and promoted exports. This has resulted in 4,00,000 tonnes of buffer stock in the country.

On the question of the continuous farmers' agitation for last month including the sugarcane farmers and why the government has failed to convince them, the former BJP Kisan Morcha president Vijaypal Singh Tomar said that the agitating farmers are getting influenced by the politicians. He added that different parties, be it Congress, SP, BSP or Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal are misleading farmers and doing politics on the issue.

He further added that if such parties are so concerned about the farmers, then they should have discussed the three bills in the parliament, despite the government's repeated reminders. The agitating farmers are pulled by political parties, whereas real farmers are happy with PM Modi's decision. The Modi government has benefited sugarcane farmers, it's export has increased and the benefits are going directly into the hands of the farmers.
